...As mentioned before, Toshiaki Imae has scrapped his low-carb diet and has begun eating more rice this off-season. Seems he's focused on creating a "new" Imae. He even brought a 20kg bag of rice and a rice cooker to his sleeping quarters so that he can make rice balls for lunch.
Imae took 300 swings during BP on Wednesday (soft toss and in the cages).
...Shunichi Nemoto filed marriage papers with a Noriko Kajitani (sp? - 梶谷宜子) on the 10th.
...Shunsuke Ishikawa is currently working out alongside rookie mini camp at the Naruohama training facilities and told reporters on Wednesday that he plans on winning a spot in the rotation and holding onto it for the entire season. Ishikawa has been training diligently and has only rest three days during the off-season so far. He has also managed to gain 3kg.
...The Tigers are planning on sending scouts to a number of Pacific League workouts during Spring camp in order to prepare for this year's Inter-league play.
...Akihiro Higashide told reporters that he plans on pushing the rookies hard whenever possible.
Higashide headed out for Okinawa on Wednesday to continue his training.
...Eishin Soyogi has been training non-stop this off-season and plans on increasing his workload now that he's in Okinawa.
Nippon Ham Fighters
...Makoto Kaneko opened up his training to the media on Wednesday. He showed off his jump-roping skills while telling reporters how good jump-rope training can be for the heart and for strengthening the inner muscles near the shoulders.
...The Fighters are thinking about asking 15-year-old speed skater Miho Takagi to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for one of their games this season (specifically, for one of games against the Lions on 7/31 or 8/1). It seems they might also try to "draft" her for their cheer-leading team, the Fighters Girls (one of TakagI's hobbies is apparently hip-hop dancing).
...Akinobu Okada made an appearance at the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday and told about 157 businessmen that while other analysts would only say good things about the Tigers because of the desires to wear a Hanshin uniform, he spoke the truth because he didn't really care about wearing the Hanshin uniform again.
...The Buffaloes are thinking about asking actress Yumi Sugimoto to throw out the first pitch on opening day. It's part of a collaborative effort with Avance Law Offices (they will be sponsoring the new ground level seats along the first and third base sides). Sugimoto appears in a number of commercials for Avance.
...Masahiro Tanaka shot his commercial with House Foods on Wednesday. The new commercial is set to appear on TV nationally on 2/1.
He also told reporters that he also won't budge on certain things regarding his routine, despite the team getting a new manager.
Tanaka mentioned that his goal for 2010 is to win at least 15 games.
...Hideaki Wakui did some cycling at the Tachikawa Cylcing Track on Wednesday -- he went around the 400m track 30 times. He also took 300 grounders as part of a workout to help strengthen his lower body.
...Yuichi Honda wants to try for 100 runs scored and a stolen base title in 2010.
...Yuta Arakawa has managed to lose about 3kg so far during the off-season. As part of his workouts, he's been running about 7kg every day. He's about 2kg away from hitting his ideal weight of 85kg.
...The Hawks are planning on handing iPhones out to staff members in the scouting department.
...Addidas signed shoe-maker Hitoshi Mimura to a contract and held a press conference for him on Wednesday. Norichika Aoki was invited as a special guest and told attendees that he plans on running like crazy in 2010 and has his sights set on a stolen base title.
Mimura has hand-crafted cleats for Ichiro and running shoes for Naoko Takahashi.
...Shinya Miyamoto hurt his lower right leg during a training session and spent most of his time helping the younger players out with their training on Wednesday. He had the leg checked out and was told that it should be fine with a few days of rest.
Yokohama Bay Stars
...Naoto Inada hopes to face his former team, the Nippon Ham Fighters, at the Nippon Series.
...The Giants held a Ni-gun staff meeting on Wednesday in preparation of the organizational meetings on the 14th.
The Giants said that they plan on continuing to have Daisuke Nakai and Taishi Ohta compete against each other during Spring camp if that chance were to arise.
