Hanshin Tigers

...Akinobu Mayumi won't be giving a Kazuhito Futagami and Masanori Fujihara a free pass to Ichi-gun Spring camp.  They'll both have to earn it first.

...Fujihara celebrates his 22nd birthday today.

Orix Buffaloes

...Ichiro made a surprise visit to rookie mini camp on Wednesday and apparently introduced himself to all the rookies.

Rakuten Eagles

...Tetsuro Nishida showed off his running stamina on WednesdayKenji Tomura managed to run about 100 consecutive 20m sprints while Nishida ran about 125 and said that he could have done 140.

Seibu Lions

...Yusei Kikuchi received about 10 shirts / jackets and 2 pants from other teammates and staff on Wednesday.

What's interesting here, other than the fascination the Japanese media seems to show for silly details like this, is that Kikuchi has been out shopping at least twice and hasn't bothered to purchase any clothes on his own.  I'm guessing he doesn't have enough money for that, but I'm sure his parents would up his allowance just once so that he can buy some clothes.

...Cycling training begins today.

Softbank Hawks

...The Hawks handed iPhones out to each of their 2009 draft prospects on Wednesday.

Yomiuri Giants

...Hisoyoshi Chono is trying to loosen up his body by incorporating more stretching exercises into his workouts.

2010 Draft

...The Hanshin Tigers held a scout meeting on Wednesday and selected 15 players (out of about 300) as potential top draft candidates.  On the list are college pitchers like Yuki Saito, Tatsuya Ohishi, Hirokazu Sawamura, Yuhi Yamazaki, Masaki Minami, and Yudai Ohno.  High school pitcher Shinta Hifumi is also said to be on the list.

...The Hiroshima Carp held a scout meeting on Wednesday and focused their discussions mostly on college prospects.  They went through a list of about 258 prospects and pared it down to about 25 names.  At the top of that list are apparently Ohno, Sawamura, and Ohishi.

...Daiki Yoshikawa is apparently at the top of the Chunichi Dragons' list of top draft prospects.

...Ohno might be a Tigers' fan but he told reporters that he's willing to go to any one of the 12 teams in the NPB.
