Around the NPB Horn: Yu Darvish has been playing catch, no problems with hand

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Yu Darvish has been playing catch at a distance of about 60 meters.  He told reporters that his handing is feeling much like it was before he fractured it.  He's hoping to be ready to throw a bullpen session on the first day of Spring camp.

Orix Buffaloes

...Satoshi Komatsu appeared at a shopping mall for a talk event on Saturday.  He told the 300 or so fans in attendance that he wanted to help win a championship for Akinobu Okada.

According to the article, Komatsu held a his first bullpen session on the 15th.

Rakuten Eagles

...Katsuya Nomura was a special guest on NHK's January Sumo Tournament coverage on Saturday.

Seibu Lions

...Hiroshi Hirao returned from Saipon on Saturday.  He had been training over there for about 10 days.

...Other than stealing 60 bases in 2010, Yasuyuki Kataoka's other goal is to go out for some food with Yusei Kikuchi.

Softbank Hawks

...Bum-Ho Lee worked out at Yahoo Dome on Saturday.  His 2-hour workout included some running, sprints, and soft toss BP.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...Shun Yamaguchi worked out in front of reporters on Saturday. Yamaguchi has been working on improving his stamina in preparation for his move to the rotation.  His training on Saturday included various sprints designed to help strengthen his lower body.

Yamaguchi also plans on working on polishing his secondary pitches: the curve, fork, and shuto.

Takao Obana considers Yamaguchi the next ace of the team.
