Chiba Lotte Marines

...Yuta Ohmine opened his workouts to the press on Sunday.  Most of his training so far seems to center around running.  On Sunday, he spent the morning running long distances; in the afternoon, he focus on running sprints on the beach.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Keisaku Itokazu showed up at the Fighters' 2010 food presentation with a head full of curly hair.  Masataka Nashida apparently wasn't very impressed.

What is it with the Fighters and hair so far this year.  First it was Nakata, now Itokazu?

Orix Buffaloes

...The Buffaloes held a moment of silence at Skymark Stadium on Sunday, in honor of those that lost their lives during the Hanshin-Awaji Earthquakes back on January 17th, 1995.

Rakuten Eagles

...The Rakuten Angels cheer-leading squad held tryouts on Saturday.  Of the 51 that showed up for an audition, 26 passed (between the ages of 17 and 29).

Softbank Hawks

...Nagisa Arakaki played some long-distance catch for the first time this year on Saturday.  He tossed the ball around about 20 times at a distance of 55 meters.  Arakaki mixed in some sliders and curves for good measure.  He could hold a bullpen session as early as the 20th if his progress goes smoothly.

...Yao-Hsun Yang held a 40-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.  He threw only fastballs.

...Bum-Ho Lee told reporters on Sunday that he received some words of encouragement from Yomiuri Giant Seung-Yeop Lee prior to his departure from Korea.  Both players hail from the city of Daegu.

Bum-Ho Lee spent about 2 and a half hours working out at Yahoo Dome on Sunday.

Yakult Swallows

...Tsubakuro made an appearance at Tokyo Tower on Sunday.

Tsubakuro is planning on visiting each of the 23-wards in Tokyo this year and began with Minato ward.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...Daisuke Hayakawa worked out at the Rikkyo University baseball grounds in Saitama on Sunday.  He told reporters that his legs were feeling great and that he was looking to steal 30 bases this season.

Yomiuri Giants

...Yamaguchi Tetsuya is working out about 6 hours a day in Guam.


...A 2-story building in Shizuoka was found in blazes on Sunday.  The building belonged to Taiji Kuwata, Masumi Kuwata's father.  A body was later recovered from the second floor of the building and was ID'ed by Masumi.
