Chiba Lotte Marines

...The Marines officially announced on Wednesday that Makoto Imaoka has been invited to Spring camp for a tryout.

...NHK was at Chiba Marine Stadium to film / record their Learning Hangul through TV segment with Tae-Gyun Kim on Wednesday.

Chunchi Dragons

...Former Dragons' ace Shinji Imanaka held a lecture for the rookies at the player's dorm on Wednesday.  He spoke for about an hour, covering topics like physical well-being and various practice methods.

Hanshin Tigers

...Yuya Ando opened his training up to the media on Wednesday and tossed a 30-pitch bullpen session.  Ando managed to drop about 7-8kg during the off-season by changing his diet (he now weights 84kg).

Hiroshima Carp

...The Carp held their organizational meetings on Wednesday to discuss their Spring camp schedules.

Ichi-gun, 1st round: 2/1 - 11 in Okinawa City, Okinawa
Ichi-gun, 2nd round: 2/13 - 25 in Nichinan City, Miyazaki

...The Carp front office took a trip out to Gokoku Shrine on Wednesday to pray for a successful season.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...The Fighters may hang Shigeru Kobayashi's uniform in the dugout for the 2010 season.

...Masataka Nashida spoke for about an hour at an event aimed towards business men on Wednesday (日本一奪還に向けて) and told audience members that the team doesn't have a lot of left-handed pitching, but does have a lot of depth in the bullpen.

Seibu Lions

...The Lions held their organizational meetings on Wednesday and decided to start Kimiyasu Kudo at Ichi-gun Spring camp.

Softbank Hawks

...More on the "home run derby" Munenori Kawasaki and Ichiro held at practice on Tuesday:

Ichiro took 160 swings and hit 43 home runs, including one that traveled about 140m
Kawasaki took 150 swings and hit 16 home runs

Yakult Swallows

...The Swallows held a Ni-gun staff meeting on Wednesday.  Also present at the meeting were the team scouts.

The scouts were at the meeting to explain the tendencies and characteristics / personalities for the seven rookies drafted last year.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...The Bay Stars held their organizational meetings on Wednesday to figure out their Spring camp schedules.

Ichi-gun: 2/1 - 28 in Ginowan, Okinawa
Ni-gun: 2/1 - 18 in Kadena, Okinawa

...The Bay Stars joint pitcher's mini camp began on Wednesday.  About 20 pitchers, including Daisuke Miura, Hayato Terahara, and Shun Yamaguchi, showed up.

Yamaguchi tossed about 50 pitches during his first bullpen session of the year.

Yomiuri Giants

...Daisuke Ochi returned from his training in Hawaii on Wednesday.  He spent about 2 week in Hawaii working out.

...Shota Kimura is hoping to win a spot in the rotation this season.  On Wednesday, he held a bullpen session and tossed about 30 pitches (while mixing in off-speed pitches) into a net.

Kimura made 25 appearances as a reliever in 2009.

...The Giants announced that they added some netting (about 9.4 inches) near the top of the outfield fences after umpires complained that balls bouncing off the handrails between the top of the fences and the stands were difficult to judge.

Balls hit off the new netting will be considered in play.  That could result in a slight decrease in home runs at the Dome.


...Akinori Otsuka informed reporters on Wednesday that he'll be undergoing a third surgery on his right elbow on the 22nd so that he can continue his baseball career.  He also said that he'll join any team that needs him.
