Ichiro, Hideki Matsui, and Kaz Matsui

by on Jan.29, 2010 @ 4:58 pm, under MLB

As if it really ever needed confirming...  In response to reporters asking Don Wakamatsu whether he'd give Ichiro a chance to pitch to Hideki Matsui, Wakamatsu flatly said no.  Ichiro told reporters a few weeks back that he'd be interesting in facing Matsui as a pitcher.

Wakamatsu also told reporters that Ichiro would be the team's lead-off hitter again in 2010; Chone Figgins would then likely follow in the 2 hole.

Hideki Matsui still hasn't done any running at full speed, but told reporters on Thursday that his knees are feeling good.  Matsui won't bother running at full speed until he gets to workout in warmer weather.  Matsui also said that he's really looking forward to playing a few games in the outfield.

Kazuo Matsui worked out with race car driver Hideki Muto on Thursday.  Nikkan Sports is also carrying an article outlining an average day of training for Matsui.
