by on Feb.01, 2010 @ 1:14 pm, under NPB, Spring Camp

=== UPDATE 6:32pm JST

...Hayato Sakamoto did not attend the first day of Spring camp due to his stomach virus.  Hara told reporters that Sakamoto should be ok to attend practice tomorrow.

...Tetsuya Utsumi threw 79 pitches during his bullpen session on Monday.  He also threw his cutter a few times and received some suggestions on how to throw it from pitching coach Isao Koda.

=== UPDATE 4:50pm JST

...Masahide Kobayashi tossed about 50-pitches in a bullpen session on Monday.  Marc Kroon apparently watched on in interest.

Tetsuya Utsumi, Tetsuya Yamaguchi, and Shugo Fujii also threw bullpen sessions.

...The Giants postponed visiting their shrine to pray for a successful until tomorrow due to the rain.

...Tatsunori Hara said that he saw improvements in Taishi Ohta.

=== UPDATE 2/1/2010 1:14pm JST

...The morning walk on the first day of Spring camp was canceled due to the rain.

...Tetsuya Matsumoto was a relative unknown last season at Spring camp.  But after a strong season and a championship, he seems to have gained quite a number of fans.  During the parade on Sunday, plenty of young women were heard screaming out his name.

Hisayoshi Chono was also at the parade, though he wasn't sure if he should wave his hand at first.

...Seems Hayato Sakamoto might have a stomach virus.  And despite having a legitimate reason, the team may fine Sakamoto if he doesn't make the first day of Spring camp.

...Tatsunori Hara will be expecting a lot of his players to compete for starting jobs during Spring camp (he wants his players to give the coaching staff a tough time deciding who should play).  Hara also told reporters that while there was no better outcome than winning a championship last season, but there was still plenty of room for improvement.  It's that "plenty of room for improvement" area that he wants the team to work on.
