Yakult Swallows: Aoki to use a bat made of maple?

...Yoshinori Sato held his second bullpen session in as many days on Tuesday and threw 128 pitches.  Including his 92 from Monday, Yoshinori has thrown 220 pitches over the course of two days.  He told reporters that he thinks part of his blister problem has to do with not throwing enough.

...Yuhei Takai, currently in the process of converting from a pitcher to an outfielder, worked about for about 10 hours on the first day of Spring camp.

...Masato Nakazawa and Tetsuya Yamamoto were completely drained after taking over 30 minutes of extra fielding practice from two separate coaches after general practice ended on Tuesday.

...Yoshinori Sato is eating more meat so that he can pack on more muscle.

...Hiromitsu Takagi held a bullpen session on Tuesday and tossed 107 pitches.  Partway through, Shinya Miyamoto grabbed a bat and stood in the batter's box for Takagi.

...Jun Matsui took 50 swings of the bat during BP on Monday.  He was in the same batting group as Norichika Aoki.  Matsui spent most of his day watching Aoki and trying to soak up as much as he could.

...Masato Nakazawa held a bullpen session on Monday and tossed 48 pitches.  Shigeru Takada seemed pleased with his outing.

...Norichika Aoki is testing a bat made out of maple.  He used the new bat during batting practice on Monday and took 40 swings, 23 of which looked like hits, including one that went over the fence.

Aoki used a Rawlings bat made out of Japanese ash last season (910 grams and 36.5 inches long).  The maple bat is slightly lighter at 890-900 grams and made by Adidas.

...Hirotoshi Ishii has not pitched an Ichi-gun game since 2006.  On Monday, he took his first step towards getting back by tossing a 45-pitch bullpen session.  He later told reporters that his shoulder was feeling great.

...Tony Barnette tossed 43 pitches (including his slider and change) during his bullpen session on Monday.
