...Fielding practice began on Wednesday.  Kenjiro Nomura hit a barrage of grounders to Kenta Kurihara, Akihiro Higashide, Eishin Soyogi, Tetsuya Kokubo, Takahiro Iwamoto, and Takaaki Matsumoto over a period of about 50 minutes.

Kurihara told reporters afterward that he felt his fielding was moving along much more quickly than his hitting.

...Masato Akamatsu was one of the first to arrive at the park on Wednesday; he started his day by taking swings in the batting cages.  Akamatsu has shortened his swing a bit and has so far drawn solid reviews from batting coach Junzo Uchida.

...Takeru Imamura tossed his second bullpen session in as many days on Tuesday.

...Jumpei Shinoda threw 114 pitches (including his slider and change) during his bullpen session on Tuesday.  Shinoda missed a bunch of time last season due to pain in his left shoulder.  He's hoping to avoid that this season.
