...Seems So Taguchi is in a bit of a friendly competition with OF coach Osamu Yonemura.  Taguchi has been talking big to Yonemura about being able to handle everything Yonemura serves up.  On Thursday, Yonemura finally had a chance to test Taguchi as he hit balls out to him for about 30 minutes.  To show he wasn't tired, Taguch asked for more.  In the end, it seems the first round ended in a tie.

...Takahiro Okada was in left field for situational fielding practice on Thursday.  T-Okada didn't get much playing time in left last year because of a hurt left shoulder.

,..Akinobu Okada was a little frustrated when he noticed Daisuke Nobue nibbling at the corners with his slider during his bullpen session on Wednesday.  Okada quickly called the pitching coaches together and instructed them to tell Nobue to throw the slider for strikes without nibbling.  The reasoning?  No one will be expecting Nobue to throw his slider for a strike.

...Okada also noticed a problem with Keiji Ohbiki's swing on Wednesday -- he apparently wasn't pivoting on his back foot properly.  Together with batting coach Kozo Shoda, Okada worked with Ohbiki and helped him make a few changes to his swing that got him back to hitting the ball with a little more authority.
