Koji Uehara ended his training in Japan on the Thursday. He told reporters that he'd like to throw more off-speed pitches now that his right elbow is feeling a lot better (and continues to improve). He'll now head down to Florida on the 10th.
On his last day of training in Japan, Uehara played some light catch and then from distances of about 75m, started throwing a little harder, mixing in forkballs, changes, curves, sliders, cutters, and shutos.
Uehara likely won't throw any bullpen sessions until Spring training.
Daisuke Matsuzaka held his first bullpen session of the year on Tuesday and threw about 50 pitches. He has also managed to keep his weight at about 90kg.
