Seibu Lions: Day Off

by on Feb.05, 2010 @ 2:47 pm, under NPB, Spring Camp

...Yusei Kikuchi and the other rookies at Spring camp did a little sightseeing on their day off.  Seems they rode the Marine Viewer Nango at one point during their outing.

...Kikuchi threw about three forkballs during his bullpen session on Thursday, but none of them were any good.  Kikuchi hasn't thrown the fork much during his bullpen sessions because Hisanobu Watanabe told him to focus on polishing up his fastball and slider first.

Kikuchi also continues to tweak various parts of his delivery and it seems he's finally getting a handle of what he's most comfortable with.

...Seems the Miyazaki accent / dialect helps Kikuchi relax.

...Despite the day off, both Kenta Matsusaka and Taichi Yoshimi spent about an hour taking batting practice.

...Hiroyuki Nakajima took part in his second day of fielding practice on Thursday.  He's trying to make up for whatever lack in experience he might have on defense with lots of practice.

...Hiroshi Hirao is focused on doing anything that will help improve his chances of making the Ichi-gun roster.  He turns 35 this year and knows that he'll be cut from the team if he doesn't put up results.
