Nippon Ham Fighters: Darvish will be the opening day pitcher (3/20)

...Hisashi Takeda threw 27 pitches during his bullpen session on Saturday.  He told reporters it was the first time he threw a bullpen session since the Nippon Series.  Takeda has been working on his arm by playing catch during the off-season.

...Sho Nakata took 19 swings against Keisaku Itokazu on Saturday and nailed 5 over the fence.

...It seems Masataka Nashida officially made Yu Darvish the opening day pitcher on Saturday after seeing his bullpen session.  I guess they won't be waiting to make the final call.

...Yu Darvish held his third bullpen session on Saturday and threw 100 pitches.  Masataka Nashida watched the session and later told reporters that Darvish looked fine and that his injuries from last season appeared to be in the past.

...Hichori Morimoto continued to work out under a separate training menu on Saturday.  Hichori told reporters that he's hoping to be fully ready to rejoin the rest of the team by the third session.

...Yu Darvish was selected as the opening day pitcher on Friday and will start the game against the Softbank Hawks (at Sapporo Dome) on 3/20.  The teams plans on checking in with Darvish again at the end of the second session (2/9) to see how he's feeling.  Barring any setbacks, he will be the opening day pitcher.

Darvish threw 45 pitches on day one and 72 pitches on day three of Spring camp.

...Sho Nakata spent about 30 minutes lifting weights on his day off.  Nakata pointed to a picture of Flo Rider on his iPod and said that he wanted to bulk up like him.
