Phillies sign two Japanese players to minor league deals

by on Feb.06, 2010 @ 11:49 pm, under MLB

Naoya Okamoto and Shigetoshi Yamakita, both players released by the Yokohama Bay Stars after the 2009 season, were apparently signed to minor league deals, with Spring training invites, by the Philadelphia Phillies.   Whether they make the team, how much they make, and at which level they will play at will all be determined by their performance during exhibition play.  An official announcement is to come sometime early next week.

Okamoto and Yamakita also had offers from the Sinon Bulls of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
