...Monday's intra-squad practice game notes:

...Shinji Takahashi hit a 2-run HR over the right field fence in the top of the first.  Pitching coach Kazuyuki Atsuzawa apparently wasn't pleased and asked Takahashi why he would even try to hit a home run at this point in the season off a rookie.  Atsuzawa was likely worried about the possibility of scarring rookie egos.

...Sho Nakata started in left and batted third.  No balls were hit in his direction and he went 0-for-3 at the plate.

...Takahiro Matsuka pitched an inning in relief.  He didn't give up any hits and struck out two.

...Yuta Sekiguchi went 2-for-2 with a double at the plate.

...Kazumasa Kikuchi hurt a finger on his right hand while fielding a bunt during fielding practice on the 6th.  He was taken to the hospital on Monday and was diagnosed with a fissured fracture in the tip of his ring finger.  Kikuchi won't be able to play catch for about a week to 10 days and will be sent down to Ni-gun camp.

Masao Kida and Takeharu Kato will likely join the Ichi-gun team beginning the 11th.

...Masaru Takeda plans on increasing the number of pitches he throws during bullpen session by 20 pitches each time out.  Takeda is also working on a slow curve.

...Sho Nakata will make his left field debut during an intra-squad game on Monday.  Nakata has been working hard on his fielding during Spring camp, taking extra sessions after general practice and working closely with outfield coach Masaji Shimizu.  On Sunday, he worked on fielding hits off the wall.  Both Shimizua and Masataka Nashida are interested in seeing how Nakata does during the intra-squad game.  Nashida will pay particular attention to Nakata's first step in the outfield on ball hit toward him.

...As of Sunday, Masanori Hayashi had thrown 5 bullpen sessions over 6 days.  He also purchased a video camera and plans on using it to help him look over his mechanics to make sure everything ok.  Hayashi is trying to transform himself into a pitcher than can go 7 innings on about 100 pitches.
