Rakuten Eagles: Hisashi Iwakuma selected as opening day starter

...Marty Brown selected Hisashi Iwakuma to be the opening day starter (3/20 vs Orix Buffaloes at Kyocera Dome) on Monday.  This will be Iwakuma's fourth consecutive opening day start and 6th overall.

...Koki Watanabe pitched in his second simulated game on Monday.  He faced 14 batters and threw 42 pitches.  He hit the bullpen afterward and threw 53 pitches.

...Brown advised Koji Aoyama to pick up a change-up on Monday after discussing it with pitching coach Yoshinori Sato.  Aoyama began practice the pitch during his bullpen session the same day.

...Kazuo Fukumori faced Teppei and Norihiro Nakamura during BP on Monday.  He apparently didn't give up very many could-be hits to either batter.

...Satoshi Nagai held a bullpen session on Sunday and threw 105 pitches with the catcher squatting.  Nagai focused on throwing the ball down and to the outside corners.  He's hoping to become a more efficient pitcher, requiring 3-4 pitches per out.

...Marty Brown hit 245 grounders to Norihiro Nakamura during his morning practice session on Sunday.

...The Eagles held a baseball clinic for elementary school kids on Sunday.  150 kids belonging to 5 teams showed up.
