...Masato Akamatsu hurt his left hamstring during practice on Monday.  Tests on the hamstring revealed that he has a tear in it.  He wasn't with the team on Tuesday.

...Jun Hirose managed to hit one over the fence against Taketo Kawaguchi during BP on Tuesday -- Hirose managed to pull a tough pitch that bore down on him for the home run.

...Carlo Alvarado faced Eishin Soyogi, Go Kida, Tetsuya Kokubo, Masato Akamatsu, and Soichiro Amaya during BP on Monday.  He threw a total 54 pitches (including his cutter, sinker, and change) and allowed 2 could-be hits in 16 swings.  Seems Alvarado can be a little intimating for right-handed batters because he steps toward them during his delivery.
