...The Hawks announced on Wednesday that they will be playing a practice game against a roster of Shikoku - Kyushu Island League players on 3/16 at Yahoo Dome.  With only 14 exhibition games on the schedule this year (compared to 24 last year), the Hawks wanted to squeeze in another game.

...Hiroaki Takaya and Yusuke Kosai worked out for about an 1.5 hours (start time 10am) on their day off Wednesday.

...Takahiro Mahara threw 44 pitches during BP on Tuesday and faced Munenori Kawasaki and Bum-Ho Lee.  The two combined for 3 could-be hits on 17 swings.

...There's a chance Nobuhiko Matsunaka could be ready to join Group A beginning on the 16th.  For now, he'll likely begin working out with the Group B players (he's been working apart from the Group B players).  Matsunaka is hoping to take BP against a live arm sometime towards the end of the third session.  Based on how he's feeling after that will determine whether or not he moves to Group A.

...Bum-Ho Lee apparently hadn't recorded any sacrifice hits in his last 2 seasons in Korea, but he still managed to successfully lay down a sac bunt during situational BP on Tuesday.  He also managed to pull a single through the left side of the infield during a hit-and-run play.  Lee also started throwing again during fielding practice after resting his arm on Monday.

...Koji Akiyama told reporters that the second session of camp went well (no major injuries), asides from perhaps the rain.  And in that department, it doesn't look as if things will get any better: as of now, there's a lot of rain in the forecast moving forward.

...Sadaharu Oh continues to tell the media that he's prepared to do whatever it takes to help the team win, including going to games at other stadiums in order to scout players that could be involved in a trade.
