...Tomoaki Kanemoto and Takahiro Arai took "lunch" BP (BP that takes place during lunch time) on Thursday.  Kanemoto took 94 swings and hit 23 out; Arai took 103 swings and hit 24 out.

Arai appeared satisfied with his outing, while Kanemoto said that he wasn't swinging the bat as well as he would have wanted to.

...Team owner Shinya Sakai was at Tigers' camp on Thursday to see how things were going.  He was apparently pleased with what he saw.

...Matt Murton worked on his positioning in center field with fielding coach Koji Yamawaki on Thursday.  Murton also stayed back after general practice to work on his hitting.  Yamawaki told reporters that the team plans on letting him play as many practice games as possible.

...Kazuhito Futagami told reporters on Wednesday that he's looking forward to a possible match-up against Sho Nakata on 2/13.  If Futagami get a chance to face him, he plans on attacking the corners with his fastball.

...Ken Nishimura spent some time pitching into a net on his day off (he worked out for about 2 hours in total).  He'll likely get his chance to pitch in a simulated game during the third session and wants to be ready.  Since Nishimura has been throwing a lot of fastballs up until now, he'd like to also incorporate off-speed pitches during those games.

...Tomoaki Kanemoto and Takahiro Arai visited the Naha Air-force Base on their day off.

...Kyuji Fujikawa spent his day off playing golf.

...Minoru Iwata received a card of appreciation (along with a small sum of money) from Kawasaki Diabetes Mellitus Square on Thursday.  Iwata has been pitching with Type 1 diabetes since he was in high school.

...Yasutomo Kubo promised Sanspo that he would record at least one sac fly this year.  If he makes good on the promise, Sanspo will reward him with a hot spring trip.  If not, Kubo will get to be a camera man for a day at Naruohama during the off-season.

Kubo made a similar deal (toss a complete game in under 100 pitches) with Sanspo last season but failed, which resulted in having to attend a talk and hand-shake fan event.
