...Thursday's intra-squad practice game notes:

...Shuichi Furukawa threw one scoreless inning

...Toru Anan started and tossed two innings and gave up 3 runs in the second inning

...Akinobu Okada called time in the middle of the game to tell Takeshi Hidaka to call a more aggressive game

...So Taguchi and Alex Cabrera took lunch BP on Thursday.  Taguchi took 114 swings and Cabrera 66.

The two made the crowd laugh a bit as Cabrera talked it up while Taguchi said that men should keep quiet while they work.

...Akinobu Okada liked what he saw during Daisuke Nobue's outing during Wednesday's intra-squad game.  Nobue was the third pitcher for the red team and faced 4 batters: he walked Hirotoshi Kitagawa to start the inning off, but then got the next three batters, Osamu Hamanaka, Naoyuki Ohmura, and Aarom Baldiris to ground out.

Nobue apparently throws a fastball that has four different kinds of movement that he doesn't seem to have much control over.  He even told reporters that the movement changes from day-to-day, sometimes moving like a cutter, other times like a fast knuckle ball.  Because of this, Okada advised Nobue during a bullpen session that he should simply aim for the middle of the strike zone because the ball would like dip, sink, curve, out of it on its own.
