Ryota Igarashi arrived in NY on the 11th. He told reporters that he wasn't nervous, so much as he was excited about pitching in the Majors. Igarashi also said that he wanted his first pitch to be an off-speed pitch instead of a fastball. It's part of his plan to become a more "complete" pitcher. In other words, he realizes that he probably won't be able to live off only his fastball and will have to incorporate more of his secondary pitches, like the fork (two kinds) and curve.
For those wondering, he apparently can throw a curve (and slider) but hasn't really bothered throwing either very much in Japan because he was able to get by just using his fastball and fork.
