...Kimiyasu Kudo and Yusei Kikuchi both held bullpen sessions at the same time on Friday.  Kikuchi threw 154 pitches; and Kudo threw 73 pitches with the catcher squatting.

...Kazuhisa Ishii threw 77 pitches during a bullpen session on Thursday.  Ishii worked on making his pitches as quickly as possible.  Last season base runners stole 18 bases on 24 tries against him.  It was Ishii's 9th consecutive bullpen in as many practice days.

...Hisanobu Watanabe told his pitchers on Thursday that he will use three games against the Yomiuri Giants (beginning on the 26th and includes a practice game and two exhibition games) as a measuring stick to see which pitchers will make the Ichi-gun roster.  Every pitcher, other than the rookies, the veterans, and pitchers like Hideaki Wakui and Takayuki Kishi, will be "tested" in this manner.

...Kenta Matsushita is Kikuchi's roommate.  Matsushita was also found to have a sty.  The Lions considered moving him to another room, but with no other openings, they turned to advising Kikuchi not to touch anything Matsushita touched (or may have touched).

...Hiroyuki Nakajima and Takeya Nakamura received early Valentine's Day chocolates before general practice on Friday from about 75 kindergarten kids.  The two players in turn gave the kids baseball gloves.
