...Sunday's practice game against the Nippon Ham Fighters was canceled due to the rain.

...Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi threw 66 pitches during a bullpen session on Saturday.

...Kohei Shibata left Satruday's game after being his in the right hand.  He was taken to an area hospital after the game for X-rays and was diagnosed with a fracture in his third metacarpal.  It'll take at least 4 weeks for the fracture to heal.

Shibata will return to Osaka on Monday for further testing.

...It seems the Tigers are committed to giving Matt Murton as many chances in center as possible (especially since they know he isn't a center fielder by trade).  After Murton, there are players like Ryo Asai and Shunsuke Fujikawa.  Shibata was also an option before he went down with an injury.

...Additional notes from Saturday's practice game against the Nippon Ham Fighters:

Masanori Fujihara's final line: 2 IP, 3 H, 2 R

...Kazuhito Futagami's next appearance will likely come on the 20th during an intra-squad practice game.

...Casey Fossum threw 72 pitches (including 6 Fossum flips) during a bullpen session on Saturday.  It was also the first time he threw with Kenji Johjima as his catcher.

...Kyuji Fujikawa held a bullpen session on Saturday and threw 49 pitches.  It was also the first time someone stood in the batter's box during his session.

...Yuya Ando threw 150 pitches in a bullpen session on  Saturday.

...Minoru Iwata met with Buddy Carlyle on Saturday.  He told reporters he was happy Carlyle came along with the team, despite the fact that he wasn't pitching on Saturday, just so that they could meet.

Iwata did not pitch on Saturday and instead threw 45 pitches in the bullpen.
