...Norifumi Nishimura announced that Monday that Masato Watanabe and Takumi Kobe will be joining Ichi-gun camp on the Wednesday.  The two will travel to Okinawa from Ni-gun camp in Kagoshima on Tuesday (Ichi-gun off day).

...Saburo re-joined the team for portions general practice on Monday and he hit a home run during BP.  He had been taking this easy since complaining of back pain on the 7th.  According to Norifumi Nishimura, Saburo originally wanted to take part in a simulated game but was advised against it by the team.  He'll return in full capacity on Wednesday.

...Michael Tejera pitched in both Saturday and Sunday's intra-squad games and it appears as though the team is thinking of letting him go.  Nishimura told reporters that he felt Tejera didn't have enough on his pitches and that his chances weren't good at this point.

...Pitching coach Takashi Nishimoto wasn't very happy with Yuta Ohmine's performance on Sunday.

...Saburo and Shoitsu Ohmatsu more or less have guaranteed spots in the outfield.  Takashi Ogino, Naotaka Takehara, Juan Muniz, and Ryusuke Minami are all in the mix for the third spot, as is Keisuke Takehara (who has shown the Marines a solid effort during the last two intra-squad practice games).

...An additional note from Sunday's intra-squad practice game:

Tejera tossed 2 shoutout innings.

Ohmine started and gave up 6 runs over 3 innings of work.  His worst inning, by far, what the 2nd when he gave up 5 runs on 4 hits (all off the first pitch).  He topped out at 138km/h.

Hayasaka collected two hits and a stolen base -- an infield single in the 1st and a single to left in the 4th followed by a stolen base.

Hmm? Shunsuke was in in Ichi-gun camp all weekend – he threw yesterday in situational BP for several batters and was in the bullpen on Saturday and Sunday. I took many pictures of him – will have them up this evening or tomorrow.

Sorry about that. I was thinking about Shunsuke Watanabe while I was writing up the post and mistakenly wrote his name instead of Masato’s. It’s one of those things I do every now and agan. Bad habit I need to work on.
