...Shigeru Takada worked with five outfielders, including Norichika Aoki, during fielding drills on Monday. Takada said that the first step immediately after the pitcher threw the ball was the most important step an outfield could make. He also explained the importance of learning how to take your eye off the ball while running it down (I'm guessing for positioning reasons).
...Shigeru Sugishita gave Yasuhiro Ichiba some pitching pointers on Monday. After Ichiba threw 120 pitches in a bullpen session, Sugishita told him to try and remember the delivery he used when he was in college.
Ichiba will be starting an intra-squad practice game on the 17th.
...Satoshi Nishizaki held a bullpen session on Monday and threw 53 pitches under the watchful eye of the coaches. He is scheduled to pitch in an intra-squad practice game on the 17th.
...Yoshinori Sato threw about 60 pitches during a bullpen session on Monday. Yoshinori is struggling to nail down a delivery that he feels comfortable with.
...Shohei Tateyama didn't do anything throwing on Monday. In order to stave off any concerns, he told reporters that he could throw if he had too. Takada said that the would take a wait and see approach with Tateyama.

...Eulogio De La Cruz threw 28 pitches during BP on Sunday and hit 147km/h on the radar gun. He faced two batters in all and gave up 3 could-be hits. De La Cruz also threw 13 balls. He told reporters that he threw at about 40-50%.
De La Cruz also took some swings in the batting cage. According to Sponichi, it was a fairly comical sight that resulted in De La Cruz swinging and missing 2 times for every 3 pitches. He told reporters that the last time he took BP was back in 2003 and that he has never gotten a hit in the past.
...The press found out on Sunday that Shohei Tateyama could miss the start of the regular season due to tightness in his right shoulder. On the 11th, Tateyama stopped throwing after throwing about 5 pitches in the bullpen. He hasn't done anything throw since and has instead focused on running and weight lifting. The earliest Tateyama will be able to play catch is apparently the 18th. His exhibition game start against the Nippon Ham Fighters on the 28th has also been canceled.
Tateyama told reporters that he'd like to re-start things over from scratch and slowly get his body back into pitching form. He also apparently had the shoulder checked out during the first session and even received a shot to treat the pain.
Tateyama has had surgery on his right shoulder once when he was in college and a second time after turning pro.
...Norichika Aoki took 181 swings during BP and hit 23 over the fence on Sunday. He told reporters that he his ankles felt good and that he was able to swing the bat with good balance. Aoki is scheduled to play in an intra-squad practice game on the 17th.
...The Swallows released information on the number of chocolate's their players received on Valentine's day: Aoki received 300; Yoshinori Sato 100; Hiroyasu Tanaka 80; and Atsushi Fujimoto 45.
