...Hitoshi Yamamoto is scheduled to start a practice game against the Samsung Lions on the 18th (as well as a practice game against the Hanwha Eagles on the 25th).  On Monday, he held a bullpen session on threw 44 pitches.

With both Yuki and Shohei Tateyama nursing injuries, the Swallows are hoping Yamamoto will take this opportunity to grab a spot in the starting rotation.  Yamamoto can throw a curve, cutter, two-seamer, fork, and slider; he also tops out at 147km/hr.

...Tateyama is expected to begin throwing again on the 18th (no bullpen, just playing catch).

...Atsushi Fujimoto spent about 40 minutes working on his swing on Monday (focusing on his hips and his left hand).  He'll like be playing in an intra-squad practice game on Wednesday.

...Shigeru Takada worked with the following five players in the outfield on Monday: Norchika Aoki, Kazuki Fukuchi, Yasushi Iihara, Yuhei Takai, and Tsuyoshi Ueda.  It was the first time since 2008 that Takada spent so much time on the field giving players instructions.  Takada told reporters that it's all about keeping your head in the game, about being able to focus in on 130-140 pitches each game.

...There was a mini flood at the indoor training facilities due to a sudden downpour on Sunday night. A number of lockers that are located underneath the training facilities were also affected.  Lockers that sustained damage by the flood belonged to Shinya Miyamoto, Ryoji Aikawa, Atsushi Fujimoto, and Ryo Yoshimoto.
