...Hitoki Iwase will be starting an exhibition game against the Chiba Lotte Marines on 2/27 at Nagoya Dome.  This will be Iwase's 5th consecutive home opener exhibition game start.  This will also be a retirement game for Kazuyoshi Tatsunami.

Iwase threw 100 pitches in a bullpen session on Tuesday.

...Toshikazu Yoshida joined Ichi-gun camp on Wednesday.  Battery coach Fujio Tamura told reporters that he wanted to take a look at the rookie to see what he had.

...Maximo Nelson threw 224 pitches in the bullpen on Wednesday.  He also received some pointers on how throw a two-seamer from head coach Shigekazu Mori.

...Mori told reporters on Tuesday that the team might be willing to give Toshiya Okada and / or Ryuya Ogawa a shot to be relievers on the Ichi-gun roster this year, depending on what they do during Spring camp.  Their future will also likely hinge on how things go with Akufumi Takahashi (back injury).  Yuichi Hisamoto and Masato Kobayashi were also named as possible pitchers to help pick up the load if Takahashi isn't ready for the start of the regular season.

For the rotation, Mori said that Kazuki Yoshimi and Wei-Ying Chen were the only two pitchers with spots in it.  He added that Masahiro Yamamoto, Takashi Ogaswara, Yudai Kawai, Daisuke Yamai, Edward Valdez, and Nelson were all possible candidates for the rotation.  The Dragons' ideal rotation apparently consists of 3 lefties and 3 righties.

Kenta Asakura and Kenichi Nakata are both question marks as they are both nursing injuries.

...Notes from Wednesday's practice game against the Samsung Lions:

Valdez started and gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits over 3 innings of work.

...Looks like Nakata's forearm isn't doing too well.  He won't be throwing for at least one week and has been spending most of his time running at Ni-gun camp.  At worst, he might not be ready for the start of the regular season.

Asakura (back pain) is also at Ni-gun camp (since the 13th) spending most of his time running and lifting weights.

...Okada threw 33 pitches during a bullpen session on Tuesday.
