...Minoru Iwata complained of left elbow pain and went to a hospital in the Kansai region on the 17th to get the area tested.  He'll likely return to Ni-gun camp on Thursday to begin rehab-training.

...Masanori Fujihara felt some pain in his left thigh and went to a hospital in Okinawa to have it checked out.  He was diagnosed with bruising on his left adductor muscle and will require about a weeks worth of rest.  Fujihara will also likely join Ni-gun camp for rehab-training.

...Kazuhito Futagami held a bullpen session on Tuesday and threw 133 pitches.  He worked on throwing his slider up in the zone to lefties; he also worked on his fork.

...Kyuji Fujikawa threw 56 pitches during a bullpen session on Tuesday.  He was supposed to throw BP on Tuesday, but that was pushed back to the 18th due to the rain (so it went from Wednesday to Tuesday, and now to Thursday).  During his session, he also had pitching coach Takashi Yamaguchi step into the batter's box for him.  He mixed in his curve and fork as well.

...Casey Fossum is working on a fork.  He told reporters that he's taking advantage of pitching coach Yasuo Kubo's knowledge of the fork.  He threw about 85 pitches in the bullpen on Tuesday.  According to Kubo, it isn't so much a fork as it is a change-up that's thrown like a fork.

...Ikketsu Sho, Kazuya Tsutsui, Ryo Watanabe, Keiji Uezono, and Ken Nishimura were all supposed to throw during Tuesday's practice game against the Nippon Ham Fighters.  Instead, they all ended up throwing a simulate game.

Sho faced 8 batters and gave up 1 hit and a walk.   The one hit he gave up was a double to Keisuke Kano.

Nishimura faced 8 batters and gave up 2 hits and struck out 3 (including Craig Brazell twice).

...According to Sponichi, Kenji Johjima will be playing in an intra-squad practice game on the 20th.  On Tuesday, Johjima took 63 swings during soft toss BP and 57 swings during BP again a live arm.

It should be noted that Nikkan Sports mentioned the 23rd as another possibility.

...Takahiro Arai is using a wider batting stance and has a much bigger follow through.  It seems he's using his lower body more.  Arai could play in an intra-squad practice game on the 23rd.

...Shunuske Fujikawa received some hitting tips (bunt, fake bunt, slash bunt) from Akinobu Mayumi on Tuesday.  He went 1-for-5, including 2 strike outs, during a simulated game.

...Kano hit a home run off Watanabe during a simulated game on Tuesday.

...Masashi Nohara stayed back after general practice on Tuesday for extra BP.  Mayumi threw the ball to him for about 30 minutes.

...There's a chance the Tigers may drop Matt Murton from the lead-off spot to the 2-hole.

...Tomoaki Kanemoto tried on some new spikes that his ASICS rep brought to camp on Tuesday.
