Chiba Lotte Marines: Karakawa throws 100 pitches on Wednesday, now at 1,451 for Spring camp

...The city of Chiba decided on Thursday that they would go ahead with plans to lay down new turf at Chiba Marine Stadium this year.  The cost of laying down the new turf (about 500M yen) will initially be paid by Lotte, after which the city of Chiba will begin paying them back over a 6-year period beginning in 2011.

...The Marines played a happy game of 27 outs on Thursday.

...Team rep Akira Ishikawa apparently pulled his left hamstring on Thursday.  Ishikawa was about to do some light exercises when he felt something in his left leg.

...Yuki Karakawa threw 90 pitches in a bullpen session on Thursday.

...Shoitsu Ohmatsu (left thigh) and Masahiko Tanaka (right shoulder) worked out under different training menus for the second straight day.  As of now, it doesn't appear as if Ohmatsu will playing in any of the upcoming three practice games (23, 24, 25).  The team doesn't want to rush Ohmatsu into coming back before he's ready.

...Prior to the start of practice on Thursday, Hiroki Ueno shouted that he'd make the most of the remaining four days of Ishigakijima camp.

...Yuki Karakawa threw 100 pitches in a bullpen session on Wednesday.  Karakawa has now thrown 1,451 pitches during Spring camp.  He'll likely start an intra-squad game on the 19th.

...Tadahiro Ogino has thrown over 1,600 pitches during Spring camp so far.  Ogino still has a shot at reaching 2,000 pitches during Spring camp.  He has thrown about 3 times as many pitches as he threw last year.
