...Japanese folk singers Jiro Sugita and Hirofumi Bamba will help the Eagles come up with their 2010 cheer song.

...The six Rakuten rookies visited Hiyajo Elementary School on their day off Thursday.  They handed out baseball gloves to all the kids in the school (6 kindergartners and 30 elementary school kids) before playing catch with them.

...Kohei Hasebe, Yasunori Kikuchi, Hiroaki Yamamoto, and Ginji Akaminai went fishing on their day off.  It seems they didn't last very long as it ended up being a very cold day.  No one caught any fish.

...Takeshi Yamasaki will likely bat in the 4 hole this year.  He is also penciled in to join the Ichi-gun roster sometime during the second week of March.

...Todd Linden and Teppei will likely take two outfield spots, meaning there's still one spot up for grabs.

...Additional notes from Wednesday's intra-squad practice game:

Yosuke Hiraishi hit a 2-run home run off Kanehisa Arime in the 8th inning.

Rakuten chairman Hiroshi Mikitani flew into Okinawa on his very own private jet to watch the game.
