Yakult Swallows: Shohei Tateyama plays some catch

...Notes from Thursday's practice game against the Samsung Lions:

The Swallows were no-hit by the Lions (just one walk), 3-0.

Hitoshi Yamamoto started the game and had a strong start, striking out two batters in the first inning.  But after recording two outs in the second, he gave up four consecutive hits and allowed 3 runs to score.  His final line: 4 IP, 7 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 3 R.

Rafael Fernandes threw 2 shutout innings and gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck  out 2.

Masato Nakazawa also threw 2 shutout innings and gave up 1 hits, 1  walk, and struck out 3.

The middle of the line-up consisted of players like Yasushi Iihara (started in right and batted 3rd, Yuichi (started at first and batted 4th) and Kazuhiro Hatakeyama (started at third and batted 5th).

...As of Thursday morning, Yuhei Takai was 4-for-13 in four intra-squad practice games.

...Shohei Tateyama played some catch on Wednesday at a distance of about 30 meters.  He threw the ball about 100 times over a period of 30 minutes (Sponichi mentions 40 meters and 40 minutes).  Depending on how he's feeling, he could throw a bullpen session as early as the 23rd.

...Additional notes from Wednesday intra-squad practice game:

Four pitchers in all appeared in the game.

Mikinori Kato tossed 2-shutout innings in relief and struck out 2.

Satoshi Nishizaki also tossed 2-shutout innings in relief and gave up a hit while striking out 3.

Yusei Takai started in left and batted 5th.  He went 2-for-2 with a CS.

Atsushi Fujimoto started a second and batted 2nd.  He went 2-for-3.

Norichika Aoki went 1-for-3: double, flied out to left, and flied out to third.  Aoki started in center and batted 3rd.
