...After his start on Thursday, Yu Darvish told reporters that his mechanics fell apart after he tried to throw the ball too hard. It also seemed as if he and Shota Ohno weren't always on the same page during the game. But then it was also their first game working together.
...Additional notes from Thursday's practice game against the SK Wyverns:
Darvish threw 4 curves; the slowest of which was clocked at 90km/h.
Tomoya Yagi threw 3 innings in relief and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. Seems a balk call disrupted his rhythm.
Shintaro Ejiri gave up 3 runs on 4 hits over an inning of work.
Kenji Tsuchiya faced 7 batters over two innings of work and gave up 1 home run (in the 9th) and struck out 3.
Yoshio Itoi went 0-for-4 after hitting a 3-run homer in the 2nd inning.
Sho Nakata entered the game in the 5th inning and went 0-for-3: two fly-outs to second and a ground out to third. He swung at the first pitch in each of his three at bats.
