...Shuichiro Osada and Jun Yamamoto were both at early morning workouts on Friday.
...Yusei Kikuchi threw 171 pitches (over 30 minutes) during a bullpen session on Friday. Kikuchi thought of ending the session earlier but kept pitching after pitching coach Tetsuya Shiozaki said that it would be good for his stamina.

...Notes from Thursday's practice game against the Doosan Bears:
Both Takeya Nakamura (5th inning, 3-0 fastball) and Hiroyuki Nakajima (7th inning, 3-2 inside fastball) hit home runs.
Ming-Chieh Hsu started the game for the Lions. He tossed 3 shutout innings and surrendered 3 hits.
Minoru Yamagishi apparently gave up 5 runs in relief.
Lions' pitchers gave up 7 walks / HBPs in the game.
The Bears beat the Lions, 8-3.
...Lions' pitchers have given up 16 walks / HBPs over 2 practice games.
...Shogo Akada's was traded to the Orix Buffaloes on Thursday. He still ended up playing in the practice game against the Doosan Bears as a defensive replacement in the 7th inning. He also picked up a hit in his last at bat in a Lions' uniform in the 8th. At the end of the game, his teammates threw Akada into the air. Hideaki Wakui apparently shed some tears.
...Kenta Matsushita's shoulder is in so much pain, he apparently can't lift his arm up past his shoulder blade.
...Kazuhiro Kiyohara visited Lions' camp on Thursday and had a chance to sit down and talk to Yusei Kikuchi. He apparently told Kikuchi not to feel rushed and to work things out at his own pace. He also told Kikuchi to aim for 200 wins. The two spoke for about 30 minutes.
...Kikuchi told reporters on Thursday that he realizes he needs to prove to the coaches that he belongs at Ichi-gun by the 25th.
Incidentally, just to clarify, Kikuchi was trying out the curve that Kimiyasu Kudo and Masumi Kuwata taught him. Kikuchi knew how to throw a curve prior to his talks with Kudo and Kuwata, but it was never considered a reliable pitch for him.
