Chiba Lotte Marines: Some notes from Saturday’s intra-squad practice game

...As of the end of Friday, Tadahito Iguchi was 6-for-12 with 6 RBIs over 3 practice games.

...Yuki Karakawa started and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits and struck out 4 over 3 innings of work during an intra-squad practice game on Friday.

...During early morning shouting practice, Tatsuya Uchi shouted out that he wanted to make up for a car that was stolen 5 years ago and for being fooled by an older sister back home.

...Additional notes from Saturday's intra-squad practice game:

Yoshihisa Naruse threw two perfect innings before giving up 3 runs in the third.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi struck out the side in his one inning of work.

Naotaka Takehara collected 3 hits, including two doubles.

Masato Watanabe hit a 2-run home run in the 3rd.

...Naruse went to the bullpen after the game to throw some more pitches.  He ended up throwing 254 pitches in all on Saturday.  Naruse told reporters he need to work on throwing from the set position a little more because he found that he was rushing himself.

...In four practice games, Takehara is 9-for-14.

...Tadahito Iguchi, Tomoya Satozaki, Shoitsu Ohmatsu (recovering from a left thigh injury), and the rest of the veterans likely won't accompany the team to the practice games against the Yakult Swallows on 2/23 and 25.

The Marines will take 14 pitchers, including Yuki Karakawa, Yuta Ohmine, Bill Murphy, Bryan Corey, and Tomohisa Ohtani, and 15 position players, including Tsuyoshi Nishioka, Toshiaki Imae, and Takashi Ogino, with them for the Swallows game.  Karakawa and Ohmine will start the games on the 23rd and 25th, respectively.

...Notes from Saturday's intra-squad practice game:

Shunsuke Watanabe started and gave up 3 runs over 3 innings of work.  Watanabe gave up all three runs in the first: a solo homer to Hisao Heiuchi and a 2-run homer to Tae-Gyun Kim.

Tomoya Satozaki collected 2 hits and drove in 3 runs.  He also threw out Keisuke Hayasaka trying to steal a base.
