Softbank Hawks: Hitoshi Tamura still trying to decide on a bat

...Additional notes from Sunday's practice game against the Yomiuri Giants:

Yoshiaki Fujioka tossed 3 innings in relief and gave up 1 run (unearned).

Kenta Nakanishi collected 2 hits and drove in a run.

Shotaro Ide hit a solo homer in the 7th.

The Hawks beat the Giants, 3-2.  As a team, they banged out 13 hits.

...Akira Nakamura was diagnosed with a fracture in his right hamate bone (右手有鉤骨骨折) and will be returning to Fukuoka for further testing, i.e., will surgery be necessary.  Nakamura apparently injured the are during the fourth session.

...Keisuke Kaneko was demoted on SaturdayTadaatsu Nakazawa was the player that took his spot on the A Group roster.


...A note from Sunday's practice game against the Yomiuri Giants:

...Hideaki Takahashi gave up a run on 4 hits over 4 innings of work.  He also struck out 6.

...Sadaharu Oh chatted with Shigeo Nagashima for about 10 minutes on Sunday.

On Saturday, Oh dropped by Ni-gun camp to watch the Ni-gun team play a practice game against the Yakult Swallows.  He told reporters he wanted to watch more  Ni-gun game during the regular season this year.

...Tadaatsu Nakazawa was promoted to A Group on Sunday.  He went 3-for-4 against the Swallows on Saturday.

...Tsuyoshi Wada turned 29 on Sunday.  Seems he received quite a few presents from the fans in attendance.

...Hitoshi Tamura used a different bat in each of his three trips to the plate on Saturday.  Over three intra-squad games, Tamura has tried out four bats.

...Prior to taking outdoor BP on Saturday, Nobuhiko Matsunaka did a little jogging -- he still isn't ready to begin running sprints.

...Brian Falkenborg is apparently working on getting more strike outs using his fork and being able to throw on consecutive days.

...An additional note from Saturday's intra-squad practice game:

Takahiro Mahara tossed a perfect inning and topped out at 149km/h.  He needed just 6 pitches to retire 3 batters.
