Daisuke Matsuzaka played catch for about 15 minutes on the 22nd (at 60 ft, maxing out at 90 ft).  He told reporters he was a little worried about his condition at first, but was relieved when he felt no tightness.  Matsuzaka will play some more catch on the 23rd and assuming everything is fine, will likely throw a bullpen within about a week.

Junichi Tazawa played catch (about 50 throws) on the 22nd and also tested his slider.

The Angels announced that April 6th (they take on the Minnesota Twins) will be Matsui Day.  Fans in attendance will receive blankets with Matsui's image on it.  Konica Minolta is sponsoring the event.

Hideki Matsui plans on taking some fielding practice on the 23rd.

The Mets recorded video footage of Ryota Igarashi and Hisanori Takahashi on Monday for use on the big screen during player intros at City Field.

Igarashi told reporters that he needs to lose about 2kg after going to a steak house 4 times a week.  He threw 49 pitches in a bullpen session, mixing in his fork, slider, and curve.

Takahashi spent some time working on fielding bunts and received some tips from Johan Santana.  He threw 83 pitches, including his curve, slider, and change.

Ichiro Suzuki arrived at camp a little before 3pm on the 22nd.  After his physical, he spent about 40 minutes working out (like playing catch and hitting soft toss BP).  According to Mariners trainer Takayoshi Morimoto, Ichiro checked in with his usual 6% body fat and that he was as healthy as his first year with the Mariners.

Ichiro didn't hold a press conference after his practice but did spend some time signing autographs for about 50 fans that were waiting in the parking lot.

Kenshin Kawakami threw 60 pitches in a bullpen session on the 22nd.  He's currently making adjustments to his delivery (he's trying to keep his form compact).  Kawakami is scheduled to throw BP on the 24th.

Takashi Saito held a bullpen session on the 22nd and threw 40 pitches.  He's scheduled to throw BP on the 24th.

Koji Uehara is currently throwing a bullpen once every other day.  On the 22nd, he didn't do any throwing and instead took fielding drills and worked on his pick-off move.  Uehara told reporters that the shorter workouts mean fewer days off.

Kazuo Matsui thinks he might be batting in the 2, 6, or 7 hole this year.
