Hanshin Tigers: Day Off

...The Tigers announced that jet balloons will be allowed back at Tigers' games, beginning from the exhibition game against the Orix Buffaloes on the 27th.  Jet balloons will also be available in the team stores again.  The first day jet balloons will allowed back at Koshien Stadium will at an exhibition game against the Bay Stars on 3/13.

...Akinobu Mayumi told reporters on Wednesday that he's leaning towards having Kenji Johjima bat sixth.

...Akihiro Yano will likely play in an exhibition game against the Nippon Ham Fighters on 3/9.

...Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi (2 innings) and Kyuji Fujikawa (1 inning) could pitch on the 25th (intra-squad game) and Johjima could be the one catching them in the game.  The Tigers are thinking 3 innings behind the plate and 2 at bats for Johjima.

...Additional notes from Tuesday's intra-squad practice game:

Yasutomo Kubo pitched 3 innings and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits.

Shinobu Fukuhara tossed 2 shutout, no-hit innings.

Hirotaka Egusa gave up a home run in his one inning of work.

Atsushi Noumi thew 51 pitches, including 11 from the side.

Wei-Chu Lin started in right and batted fifth.  He went 2-for-3 with a double.

Craig Brazell started at first and batted fourth.  He went 0-f0r-2 with 2 strike outs.

Shinji Komiyama was the starting catcher and batted eight.  He threw out a runner at second and hit a double in his second at bat in the 5th.

Kenichi Tagami started in center and batted second.  Tagami made a throwing miscue in the first and bobbled a ball in the 6th.  He was also picked off in the 7th.

...Over 4 practice games, Lin is 8-for-14.

...Minoru Iwata's rehab-training in Naruohama on Tuesday included: throwing into a net, long distance throwing (40 meters), and running.  He also shaved his hair down as well.

...Tomoaki Kanemoto spent over an hour swinging the bat 200+ times (spread out over 4 separate sessions with no more than 30-60 minutes between each session) on Tuesday.

...Additional notes from Tuesday's intra-squad practice game:

Randy Messenger pitched a scoreless inning in relief and surrendered just 1 hit.  He threw 10 pitches (including his curve and slider) and topped out at 149km/h.

Takahashi Toritani went 2-for-4.

Keisuke Kano was the starting catcher for the red team and batted 8th.  He hit a solo homer in the 6th off Hirotaka Egusa.
