Seibu Lions: Kikuchi to toss BP again on 2/28?

by on Feb.24, 2010 @ 7:36 pm, under NPB, Spring Camp

...Yusei Kikuchi threw 107 pitches in a bullpen session on Wednesday.  The Lions also decided to give Kikuchi another chance at tossing BP prior to the exhibition game against the Yomiuri Giants on the 28th.  Still no word on whether he'll get to start any exhibition games prior to the regular season.  A lot will likely depend on his next BP session.

During BP on Tuesday, Taketoshi Goto and Kenta Matsusaka took 32 swings that resulted in the 6 could-be hits.  And the BP session was apparently more about airing the arm out, instead of working on control.  Which could explain some of why Kikuchi ended up throwing 23 balls (in 55 pitches).

...Kenta Matsusaka wasn't feeling well on Wednesday and got checked out at a local hospital.  He spent the rest of the day in his hotel room.

...Brian Sikorski felt some discomfort in his right thigh and, as a precaution, worked out under a different training menu on Wednesday.  He apparently hurt the thigh during practice on Tuesday.
