Akinori Iwamura, Kosuke Fukudome, Hisanori Takahashi, Ryota Igarashi

by on Feb.25, 2010 @ 1:50 pm, under MLB

Kosuke Fukudome is using a new stance that's a bit wider.  He's also dropped his center of gravity a little.

===

Akinori Iwamura wants to work with Ronny Cedeno on the field more so that he can get his timing down.

===

Hisanori Takahashi met former Yomiuri Giant Elmer Dessens at Mets' camp prior to practice on the 24th (?).  Ryota Igarashi is trying to find a local masseuse to help him with some tight muscles (and because the team trainer isn't set to join the team until May).

Takahashi threw 57 pitches during BP on the 24th and gave up 6 could-be hits.  Igarashi threw 38 pitches and gave up 2 could-be hits.  Both are scheduled for another round of BP on the 27th.

===

Hideki Matsui took some more light fielding practice in the outfield and took some BP on the 24th.  He told reporters that his muscles were feeling a bit tight, but otherwise no problems.

===

Kenshin Kawakami and Takashi Saito both tossed BP on  the 24th.  Kawakami faced 5 batters and threw about 20 pitches.

===

Hiroki Kuroda hit the gym for morning exercises on the 24th.

===

Kazuo Matsui took fielding (double plays, bunts) and hitting practice on the first day of full-squad workouts on the 24th.

===

Junichi Tazawa threw 50 pitches in a bullpen session on the 24th.  Daisuke Matsuzaka played long distance catch (60 ft)  for the third consecutive day on the 24th.  Assuming he's feeling fine, the Red Sox will double the distance to 120 ft on the 25th.
