Yokohama Bay Stars: Bookcheck and Yamaguchi toss simulated games

...Shuichi Murata and Seiichi Uchikawa took extra fielding practice after general practice on Friday for the first time during Spring camp this year.  Yoshitomo Tsutsugo also took part in the extra fielding drills that lasted about an hour.

...Naoyuki Shimizu tossed 45 pitches during a simulated game on Friday.  He faced 10 batters and gave up 3 hits and 2 walks.  He also struck out a batter on a 139km/h fastball.  Shimizu told reporters that he threw too many balls and that he had problems with this off-speed stuff.

...Takao Kaji watched some wrestling in Okinawa on Thursday.

...Chris Bootcheck pitched in a simulated game on Friday.  He faced 5 batters and struck out 3.

...Shun Yamaguchi also pitched in a simulated game.  He faced 10 batters, gave up 2 hits, and struck out 5. Yamaguchi topped out at 147km/h.

Yamaguchi has been battling some back tightness lately.

...Yoshitomo Tsutsugo will likely be playing in an exhibition game against the Yakult Swallows on Saturday.

...Additional notes from Thursday's practice game against the SK Wyverns:

Tsutsugo started at third and batted forth.  He went 0-for-3: popped out to short, flied out to right, fouled out to the catcher, and walked.
