Orix Buffaloes talking contract with Freddie Bynum

The Orix Buffaloes have apparently begun negotiating with Freddie Bynum.  According to Nikkan Sports, a deal appears eminent.  If everything goes smoothly, Buffaloes' GM Yoshio Murayama could fly out to the US to finalize the deal in early March.

Bynum landed on the Buffaloes' radar earlier this month when the team worked on building a list of potential foreign candidates (with the help of their advisor, George Foster).

The Buffaloes are hoping to have him signed and ready for the start of the regular season on 3/20.

Akinobu Okada is calling him a super-sub -- seems the team is interested in him because he can play a number of different positions and can steal bases.
