Ichiro Suzuki took 39 swings during BP on the 27th and hit 10 out.  He spent about 20 minutes in the cages on the 28th.

Mike Scioscia expects Hideki Matsui to be in the starting line-up for at least 140 games this season.

On the 27th, Matsui took 44 swings during BP and hit 2 over the fence.  He also made sure he parked his car in a new spot after almost hitting it during BP the day before.

Matsui also appeared to be covering more ground during fielding practice in the outfield.  He told reporters that he has been carefully checking with his knee as he practices.  He also said that his shoulder was only at about 50%.

About 40 Japanese fans were on hand to watch Matsui on the 27th.

Due to the rain on the 28th, Matsui kept his workouts light (soft toss BP and weight training).

After throwing 50 pitches during BP on the 27th, Ryota Igarashi decided that his third pitch will be a sinking slider (he threw about 15 of them).

Hiroki Kuroda threw about 60 pitches during a bullpen session on the 28th.  He told reporters he wasn't really satisfied with the session mechanically, but also admitted at this juncture, he's more concerned about building up his body.

Kenshin Kawakami threw 40 pitches during BP on the 28th.  Kawakami is scheduled to pitch on the 4th against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Takashi Saito had his physical on the 28th.  He also didn't do anything throwing for the second consecutive day.

Koji Uehara threw 30 pitches to minor league hitters during BP on the 28th.  Uehara apparently was only 60% satisfied with the session.  He is scheduled for a start against the Tampa Bay Rays on the 4th.

Daisuke Matsuzaka played catch at a distance of about 50 meters on the 28th.  He was also throwing a little harder.  Matsuzaka told reporters he plans to play catch at about 50 meters again on Monday, and then from a shorter distance on Tuesday.  That means the earliest he'll likely throw a bullpen is Wednesday.
