Nippon Ham Fighters: March 8, 2010

...Sho Nakata struck out twice against Yoshinori Sato on Sunday: in the second inning he struck out swinging on a 151km/h fastball and in the fourth inning he was caught looking at a slider on the outside corner.  Masataka Nashida, perhaps in jest, told reporters that he won't be putting Nakata in the line-up when Yoshinori is on the mound.

...Kenji Tsuchiya gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits (including a 3-run homer to Jamie D'Antona in the 1st inning), an HBP, and 1 strike out over 3 innings of work against the Yakult Swallows on Sunday.  That was apparently enough to send him packing for Ni-gun.

...Nikkan Sports is running a 5-part series on Yu Darvish.  The first part looked back on Darvish's 2009 season and went up last week.  The second part is on his conditioning and went up on Monday.  The schedule for the other three parts: Darvish's private life (3/15), The start of Darvish's 2010 season part 1 (3/19) and The start of Darvish's 2010 season part 2 (3/26).

If I have time, I might try to translate portions of the article.

Incidentally, Darvish's next start is against the Chiba Lotte Marines on the 13th.
