Six infielders, including Kazuo Matsui, are accompanying the team on the road game against the St. Louis Cardinals on the 13th.  On the 12th, Matsui was not with the team for their road game and spent his time working out indoors (light running and BP) because of the rain.

Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted lead-off against the Kansas City Royals on the 12th.  He went 2-for-4: single to center, ground out to short, single to center, ground out to first.  He was lifted in the 8th on defense.  It was Ichiro's first two-hit game during the pre-season.

Ichiro told reporters that he doesn't like to set Spring training goals because they tend to come back and haunt you if you don't make them for some reason.

Takashi Saito wasn't happy with his workouts on the 12th because the rain kept him from running and long distance throwing.  Kenshin Kawakami threw 54 pitches in the bullpen in preparation for his start on the 14th against the Houston Astros.

Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fourth against the Chicago White Sox on the 12th.  He went 0-for-2: ground out to second, walk, ground out to second.  It was Matsui's first 3-at bat pre-season game this year.  He also came around to score in the 4th.

Matsui told reporters after the game that he wasn't at 100% and is still a afraid of pushing himself to hard when it comes to running.  But he also added that he didn't suffer any setbacks after the game due to his sprints to first in his first and third at bats.

NHK BS 1 will be broadcasting an edited tape-delay version of the Angels vs Los Angeles Dodgers exhibition game that's set to take place on the 15th.  The edited version will likely focus in around Matsui's at bats and will likely last an hour and 40 minutes.

Because of the rain, practice was short for the Boston Red Sox on the 12th.  Daisuke Matsuzaka apparently didn't want to go a day without throwing and waited for the rain to stop in order to play some catch with his interpreter.  Matsuzaka is scheduled to throw BP on the 13th.  He told reporters that he'd like to try throwing strikes with all of his different pitches.

Hisanori Takahashi and the New York Mets spent three hours on the bus in order to get to Fort Myers for a game against the Minnesota Twins on the 12th.  Upon arriving, the game was canceled due to the rain.  Takahashi was scheduled to throw on the 12th, but with the cancellation, he'll like be pitching against the Detroit Tigers on the 13th.

Koji Uehara needed only 11 pitches to get through his one inning of work against the Minnesota Twins on the 11th.  For those keeping score: that's 8 pitches during his first outing, 11 during his second out, and now 11 again during his third out.  Grand total number of pitches thrown over three exhibition appearances: 30.

On the 12th, Uehara spent some time doing light exercises, like riding on a stationary bicycle.  He told reporters he hasn't pitched enough to get any tightness in his shoulder or arm.  Uehara's next outing will likely come on the 14th against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted second against the Chicago White Sox (split squad) on the 12th.  He went 0-for-2 with two walks: ground out to second, walk, walk, strike out.

It was apparently Tom Herr, the manager of the Lancaster Barnstormers, that took an interest in Toshihisa Nishi.
