Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted 4th against the Chicago Cubs on the 14th.  He went 1-for-3 and recorded his first RBI of the Spring: ground out to first, RBI single to center with runners on first and third and 1 out, and a ground out to second.

On the 13th, Trey Hillman (KC Royals manager) told reporters that he thought Matsui looked greated and figured that he must have spent a lot of time working out during the winter.  He also expected Matsui's hitting to come around.

Kazuo Matsui started at second and batted second against the Atlanta Braves on the 14th.  He went 1-for-3 with an RBI and his first stolen base of the Spring in the 4th.  Matsui's hit, a double, actually came off fellow countryman Kenshin Kawakami.

Kawakami started the game for the Braves and went 3.2 innings while giving up 6 runs on 8 hits.  He kept the Astros off the scoreboard in the first and second inning but fell apart after that, allowing 2 runs to score in the third and 4 runs in the fourth.  Kawakami threw 70 pitches and got the Astros to hit 13 grounders.

Koji Uehara tossed a shutout inning (the 9th inning) in relief against the Philadelphia Phillies on the 14th.  He also allowed a run and picked up a save.

Uehara has made four Spring appearances and has yet to give up any runs.  He told reporters after the game on the 14th that he may have had his worst outing of the Spring after allowing some solidly hit balls.  Uehara said he needed to continue working on his control.

Ryota Igarashi tossed a scoreless eighth against the Florida Marlins on the 14th.  He also gave up a hit and struck out one.  Igarashi topped out at 94mph (151km/h).

Akinori Iwamura started at second and batted second for the Pittsburgh Pirates on the 14th.  He went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI, including a home run in the 4th off C.C. Sabathia.

Daisuke Matsuzaka tossed the ball around for about 10 minutes on the 14th.  Matszuaka did not speak to reporters directly and instead left a message with the team, stating that he was feeling better but that the team wanted to be careful and give him another day before making any decisions on his schedule moving forward.

According to the Red Sox, the neck tightness is not connected to the back problems Matsuzaka suffered earlier on this year.

===

Ichiro Suzuki worked out for about 1.5 hours in the morning on the 14th.  During BP, he hit 5 over the fence.

Ichiro is not with the team on their current road trip and likely won't play in any games until the 17th -- the Mariners have another road game on the 15th and then an off-day on the 16th.

Hiroki Kuroda started against the Texas Rangers on the 14th.  He gave up 2 runs (none earned) on 2 hits, 1 walk, and 1 strike out.

===

Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted lead-off against the Angels on the 14th.  He went 0-for-3: fly out to right, ground out to second, ground out to second.  He was lifted from the game in the 5th on defense.

Fukudome told reporters after the game that he was feeling a little tired after the team's last road trip.

Kei Igawa appeared in two games and gave up 5 runs over 2.2 innings of work.
