...The Hawks held a three-hour practice on Friday (simulated fielding drils, BP).

...Hiroki Kokubo will in all likelihood be batting fourth on opening day.

...Shingo Tatsumi started an Ikusei League game against Hiroshima on Wednesday and tossed 8 inning while giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits.  He topped out at 144km/h.

...It seems the Hawks are floating the idea of pitching the SBM trio in all three games of the season opener (if needed).  With a three-day break in between the season opener and their next series against the Orix Buffaloes, the SBM trio would get whatever rest they needed after the opener.

...Koji Akiyama appears to be considering a line-up that has Yuya Hasegawa batting in the 6 hole in order to break up some of the right-handed bats.

...In preparation for his first start of the regular season, Tsuyoshi Wada supposedly started the Ni-gun season opener against Hanshin on Friday.

...Nobuhiko Matsunaka will apparently invite close to 1000 people (kids and their caregivers) to games this year through his Matsunaka Kids Hawks program (60 games x 16 people = 960).

...Sadaharu Oh apparently gave a spirited speech during a team meeting on Thursday night.

"Even though opening day is on the road, what we do at the stadium doesn't change.  It's good that we're playing the [PL] champs [on opening day].  After all, we're challengers."

He also suggested that the team apply pressure on Yu Darvish by using their speed, specifically the first two batters in the line-up.

About 70 people -- manager, coaches, players, and staff -- attended the meeting.
