...Hidenori Tanoue was the opening day catcher on Saturday for the first time in his career.

...Kenji Otonari and Dennis Houlton both threw bullpen sessions on Friday (?).  Otonari will be starting Sunday games and threw about 20 pitches; Houlton is scheduled to start Monday's game and threw 75 pitches.

Otonari apparently showed up to the game on Saturday with his hair shaved down (6mm) to show how serious he was about the start of the season.

...Tsuyoshi Wada was the Ni-gun opening day start for the Hawks on Friday.  He gave up three runs on five hits over three innings of work.  Wada threw a total 74 games during the game and an additional 36 pitches in the bullpen.  He is still scheduled to start the home opener on the 26th against the Orix Buffaloes.

...Kenta Imamiya started at short and batted second.  He went 0-for-3 with a walk during Ni-gun opening day on Friday.  Imamiya's first official at bat was a walk in the first inning; he also stole second.
