Omatsu's relatives, including his father, were in the stands watching the game. ... Tsuyoshi Nishioka gave Norifumi Nishimura the game ball in commemoration of the manager's first victory. ... Yasuhiko Yabuta picked up his first save since 2007. ... The Lions left 11 men on base. ... The Marines held a mini-meeting in front of the dugout before taking the field in the 7th.  Nishioka apparently made a rallying cry to his teammates for them to push harder to score a run because of how hard their pitchers were working to keep them in the game.
