Softbank Hawks: March 21, 2010

by on Mar.21, 2010 @ 6:14 pm, under NPB

...The Hawks relied on the SBM trio on both Saturday and Sunday.

...Toshiya Sugiuchi won his first game against Yu Darvish on Saturday (it was their 6th meeting).  He also won his first opening day start in his second attempt.

Sugiuchi now needs 20 more wins for 100 in his career.

...Hiroki Kokubo had a big game on Saturday, going 3-for-4 with a run and 2 RBI.

...Munenori Kawasaki had two hits, two stolen bases, and two runs scored on Saturday.

...With runners on first and second in the 2nd, Bum-Ho Lee laid down a successful bunt.  And it seems that it may have been his first ever sac bunt, during an official game, in his career.

...The Hawks checked out the Nippon Ham Fighter player dorms on Sunday for ideas on what they might be able to do for their players.  The Fighter player dorms were built with the image of resort hotels in mind.  There are a total 32 rooms.  There are also facilities like a communal bath and sauna room.  The dorms are also connected to the indoor training facilities.

The Hawk player dorms are over 20 years old and it seems the club may be thinking of rebuilding (or reforming) it.
