Nippon Ham Fighters: March 23, 2010

by on Mar.23, 2010 @ 9:04 pm, under NPB

...Shintaro Ejiri was demoted to Ni-gun on Tuesday after failing to do his job.

...Takahiro Matsuka will be joining the Ichi-gun roster on the 26th (in time for the Chiba Lotte Marines series).

...For the first time in 44 years, the Fighters scored 10 runs in one inning (14 batters, 8 hits, 3 walks) on Monday.

...Masayoshi Kato played in his first pro game on Monday against the Softbank Hawks -- he entered the game in the 8th as a pinch-hitter (fly out to center) and took over at short in the 9th.

...Masataka Nashida told reporters that he would like to win as many games as the number on his back (88).

...TV ratings for the opening three games series for the Sapporo region were quite solid: 20.2% for the first game, 19.7% for the second game, and 18.2% for the third game.

The 20.2% for the first game doesn't match what the Fighters pulled last year (27.3%).  Some of the difference could be chalked up to the opening day game being a night game last year.  The ratings for the opening day game in 2008 (day game) were 19.3%.
